Peace Corner. Yes, on Independence Day, come join others to call for peace and the end of the occupation of Iraq. Our monthly vigil takes place at the corner of Blackstone and Shaw in Fresno.

Journey for Justice will be held at the Seniors’ Center in Chowchilla. The forum will address issues such as incarceration, health care, housing and the state budget crisis.
Sunday, June 29, 4 PM
The Fresno Center for Nonviolence Celebration will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 2672 E. Alluvial Ave, Clovis. The keynote speaker will be David Barsamian on “What We Say Goes: America Tries to Rule the World” along with The Way of Peace Awards. While there are no tickets, the cost is $5 to cover expenses.

Action Item: KNXT, Channel 49, continues to air Democracy Now! at 6 pm (Monday-Friday). This is an important source of alternative news. Write the station to express your appreciation (may be enclose a small donation). Letters can be sent to Jim Grant, KNXT -TV, 1550 N. Fresno Street, Fresno, CA 93703 or jgrant@dioceseoffresno.org.

Counter Recruitment: Peace Fresno is a member of the Central Valley Counter Recruitment Coalition which visits Fresno high schools to distribute literature and talk with kids about alternatives to military service.
