Trump’s Afghanistan Speech Offers No End in Sight for the War

“We will learn from history,” Trump said as he announced his plan in August for the war in Afghanistan. His strategy? More troops, no set timeline, and less transparency — a perfect storm for a permanent war, Phyllis Bennis, of Institute for Policy Studies, said, “Well, maybe Trump stared at the eclipse for too long, but the history books we read show us that there is no military solution for America’s longest war.”

The September issue of the Community Alliance has arrived. If you subscribe or donate, you know that already! Many interesting articles and ads – Pictures from “Fresno Rally Against Hate”, good article but bad news in “Why Boston Woodard Does Not Have an Article in the Month’s Newspaper”, two articles about that precious resource to the east – the forests of the Sierra Nevada, an article about a local bank that is community-oriented rather than profit centered, analysis of the recent voting records of City Council members, a Spanish language section, and more.

Did you know that Peace Fresno members can get the Community Alliance for $20, if they are first-time subscribers? See the member application in Peace Fresno’s Sept 1 email.
