2026 KFCF Banquet

Written By Ken Hudson

Peace Fresno was pleased to represent our organization at the annual Fresno Free Radio (KFCF 88.1 FM) community banquet on Saturday, October 10, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fresno. Peace Fresno hosted a table at the event, underscoring the vital relationship between independent community media and local grassroots activism.

The keynote speaker, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist and author David Cay Johnston, delivered a compelling address outlining five key ideas for restoring democracy, protecting working families, and rebuilding economic justice:

  • Strengthening Labor Unions: Rebuilding collective bargaining power to counter systemic economic inequality.

  • Raising the Minimum Wage: Guaranteeing a true living wage so all workers can afford basic necessities.

  • Comprehensive Healthcare Reform: Transitioning to a healthcare system focused on public health rather than corporate profit.

  • Local Campaign Finance Integrity: Banning outside, out-of-district financial contributions to ensure local officials remain accountable to community residents.

  • Ending Public Corruption: Enforcing strict ethics and transparency to stop politicians and corporations from misappropriating government resources.
